The World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared COVID-19 (Coronavirus) as a pandemic and Australia has declared it as a health emergency.
What is COVID-19? COVID-19 is a new strain of coronavirus that has not been previously identified in humans. It was first identified in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China, where it has caused a large and ongoing outbreak. It has since spread more widely in China. Cases have since been identified in several other countries.

MHLC's is taking all appropriate steps to ensure the wellbeing of both clients and employees are looked after during this unpredictable time. We have followed all government advice and have passed on all necessasry information to all employees in relation to COVID-19.
MHLC requests ALL clients and employees to inform us immediately if:
- Have visited any identified COVID-19 Hotspots
- Been in close contact* with someone who visisted an Identified COVID-19 Hotspot
- Has cold or Flu-like symptoms
- Been in contact with someone with a confirmed case of COVID-19
- Been confirmed with COVID-19
MHLC will ensure that all employees isolate as appropriate if they fit in to one of the above mentioned criteria.
In addition to the above, all employees have been asked to complete the department of health's training module regarding COVID-19. We encourage everyone to take the training module.

*close contact refers to: face-to-face or the sharing of a closed space with a confirmed case of COVID-19.
What we can all do:To minimise the spread of the virus, or any other illnesses, it is important to practice good hygiene. This includes:
- Covering your coughes and sneezes with your elbow or tissue
- Disposing tissues properly
- Washing your hands often with soap and water for a minimum of 20 seconds, including before and after eating and after going to the toilet.
- Use alcohol-based hand sanitisers
- Clean and disinfect surfaces, including frequently used devices such as mobile phones, keys and wallets
- If you are experiencing cold or flu like symptoms, avoid contact with others and
- Stay more than 1.5 metres away from people (Social distancing)
- Stay at home and only leave for essential reasons

MHLC MEDICAL SERVICES
We have on-boarded two general practitioners to assist all participants and employees with health check-ups as we go through COVID-19 Pandemic. Please welcome Dr. MD Emanul Haque and Dr. Keping Xu to the My Home Living Care team.
Dr Md Enamul Haque:
MRCP(UK), FRCP Edin, FRACGP
Dr Haque completed his Membership Examination with the Royal College of Physicians in the UK in 1989 and first came to Australia in 1990 to receive training in Baby Intensive Care at Monash Medical Centre. After that he went back to work as Lecturer in University Sains Malaysia and worked as a Specialist Pediatrician in Brunei. He came back to Australia in 2006 and started as a GP after a hospital rotation in Queensland. He has completed two certificate courses in Skin Cancer and Skin Procedures. He has done a one year long Graduate Certificate Course in the NSW Institute of Psychiatry and currently he is a Medicare approved psychotherapy provider. Dr. Haque has attained a Fellowship from the Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh in 2006 and another Fellowship from Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2015. Dr. Haque has long experience and interest in: Mental health, Psychotherapy, Skin procedures, Baby care, Men’s health.

Dr Keping Xu:
MBBS, FRACGP, DAME
Dr Xu completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery in Beijing in 1997 and continued her training in China until 2001, when she moved to Australia to begin pursuing her interests in psychiatry. Having undertaken clinical experience in several Victorian public hospitals, she obtained her psychiatry registrar in 2011. Since then, she has worked in a number of public and private clinics in both metropolitan and rural areas, focusing on GP, skin cancer, and mental health services. Upon completing her rural GP service, she obtained a Fellowship from Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. Having a child her own, Dr Xu is an experienced family doctor as well as mental health professional. She is currently in completing her Master of Psychological Medicine to further her clinical expertise in the mental health field.

Consultations
Home visits & Over-the-phone
We've heard stories of people feeling uncomfortable making appoitments with medical centres and a few horror stories in relation to medical centre queues.
This is why MHLC is offering our GP services by home visits or over-the-phone consultations. Our service will be open to all participants including family members living in the same address*.
As part of our home-visits, we will also be offering FREE flu vaccinations to best prepare you with the upcoming winter season.
MHLC medical services will be bulk-billed with MHLC covering all gap fees for home visits & medical consultations.

Free Webster Pack
Should you require webster pack medication, MHLC will offer this to you for FREE using our dedicated pharmacy to prepare your webster pack and to be dispatched by our doctors at Seven Hills office.

Immunocompromised
For our immunocomprised participants, should you wish to take on our services, MHLC will screen all support workers weekly to ensure they are in the best condition for service. With our employee consent, we will ask them to provide their medical history in order for us to provide more accurate assessments. This is our way of minimising potential risks to you, our employees and the community.
For our other participants, this service is available by request.

MHLC RESPONSE PLAN
Stage One: Preparation and Early Detection
Ensuring good infectoin control practices in place. Including:
- Social Distancing
- Good Hygiene (including hand wash)
- Cough and Sneeze in to a flexed elbow or tissues (dispose tissue immediately)
Enforce early detection practice including:
- 14 days leave for employees returning from overseas or been in close contact with someone returning from overseas.
- 14 days leave for employees with cold or flu like symptoms
- Employee health check up before re-commencing support services
Stage Two: Suspected COVID-19 case
For individuals showing symptoms:
- Seek medical attention and follow advice
- 14 day isolation and monitor.
- If possible, background check for any relation to overseas travel, contact with overseas travel or confirmed COVID-19 cases.
For Employees:
- Continue good infection control practices
- Continue the use of normal Personal protective equiment (PPE) (i.e. Gloves)
- If applicable, Increase PPE if advised by health practitioner.
- Maintain good hygiene, including:
- Hand washing
- Surface cleaning
- Notify MHLC immediately (1300 334 021)
- Notify Next of Kin or emergency contacts.
Stage Three: COVID-19 Confirmed
If contact with COVID-19 case has occured. MHLC will proceed with the following:
- Inform MHLC head office immediately. (1300 334 021)
- Seek medical advice and attention, if returning home,
- MHLC Management team, Case coordinators and Rostering team to develop individual plan to ensure continuity of supports.
- Notify those you've been in close contact with, including Next of Kin and Emergency contacts.
- 14 day self isolation with only appropriate staff present with all necessasry PPE as recommended by the department of health. If PPE is not available an alternate will be organised as soon as practicable.
- 14 day self isolation for those you've been in cotact with
- Continue to maintain good infection control.
- Contact emergency services should symptoms get worse during self isolation period
- Seek clearance from the department of health after self isolation period is over and symptoms no longer exist
It is important to note, MHLC will always follow all relevant protocols as provided by the department of health, should they change from what is mentioned above.
